Blade Runner – Set in a Dystopian Los Angeles, and about killing replicants – this movie is way ahead of its time. It answers questions like what it means to be human, and where we come from.

2001: A Space Odyssey – Stanley Kubrick has always been the master. The book is by Arthur C. Clarke, and the movie became extremely famous for its great visual effects. The technical stimulation is wonderful. One of the movies you must check out.

Alien – This film by Ridley Scott, was made in 1979, and became instantly famous for the disgusting scene of an alien bursting through the chest of a man. Sigourney Weaver’s performance too, is great.

The Stars Wars movies – The age-old theme of good versus evil, with the element of mysticism. Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher are great, as are the rest of the cast. These are epic movies that everyone should definitely watch.

Solaris – The 1972 film is a great one. It talks about the limitations of science, when a man travels to outer space and finds his deceased wife there. The movie also has some great dramatic sequences, which will leave their mark on you.

The Day The Earth Stood Still – This 1951 movie came out at a time when people in America were paranoid about the Cold War.

War Of The Worlds – This 1953 film, the story of which had been written by H G Welles, described a Martian invasion.

Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day – One of the ultimate sci-fi movies of them all. With the theme of a robot sent back in time to kill the mother of a future rebel, it deals with the issue of time travel, as well as cyborgs. The film-making and graphics are top-notch.

Close Encounters Of The Third Kind – One of the greatest movies of its time, with a haunting musical theme. It talks about alien visitation from another planet.

The Matrix – One of the epic movies. The design was eye-catching, the fight-sequences well choreographed, and the special effects simply stunning.
