Anthony Hopkins has always been known as an actor par excellence. His chilling portrayal of a cannibal in The Silence Of The Lambs has gone down in history, and even got him an Oscar. He’s done drama too. One of the finest actors around, and definitely one of the strongest in terms of speech delivery, we show our respects by listing his top ten best movies.

Beowulf – Even though the movie itself was not that great, Hopkins was, as Hrothgar. He brought out the tensions with his wife wonderfully. Watch it for the Hopkins’ performance.

The Human Stain – He plays the part of a disgraced professor, who has an affair with Nicole Kidman, a woman whose past keeps coming back to haunt her. Then, he must confront his own secret, which he has kept hidden from all. The Human Stain is a great drama, definitely a movie you should watch.

Red Dragon – Perhaps not better than The Silence Of The Lambs, but really great nonetheless. Hopkins sends chills up and down your spine with his great portrayal of Lecter. He makes himself into a character you just can’t forget in a hurry.

The Silence Of The Lambs – A true masterpiece. Hopkins plays the character of Hannibal Lecter with spine-chilling dedication. Even though he’s in a cage, he gets inside your head. His frightening speeches and his devouring of a man’s tongue are images you won’t get over quickly.

Bad Company – The movie itself received pretty bad reviews, but Hopkins was quite good as a CIA veteran who must teach Chris Rock to behave like a real agent in just 9 days.

Meet Joe Black – The movie got harsh criticism for its unrealistic aspects and its long length, but Hopkins was really charismatic in this role. He plays a character who knows Death is approaching, it is right in his house, so how will he deal with it?

Amistad – Hopkins soars in this performance, while the movie talks about the subconscious issues of race and slavery.

The Remains Of The Day – Probably one of Hopkins’ finest movies. He plays a butler who has given all his life to his pro-Nazi master, and concealed his feelings for his master’s wife. This is a beautiful movie, one that talks about love which is not expressed.

The Hunchback Of Notre Dame – This 1982 movie got Hopkins much popularity, when he played the hunchbacked Quasimodo.

Audrey Rose – Though he’s not the main character, Hopkins plays his part very well. This is a movie about reincarnation.
