Think you want to watch some explosions? What you need is a top-rate action flick. Here, we list the top ten action movies.

Lawrence Of Arabia – This 1962 movie is a real classic. It talks about the English T E Lawrence, who rallies the Arabs to fight against the Turks in the First World War. Peter O’ Toole is simply brilliant in this movie, and cinematography-wise, the movie is a perfect 10.

Paths Of Glory – This movie was directed by Stanley Kubrick in 1957. It’s an anti-war movie, with great battle scenes. Watch out for Kirk Douglas in this one.

The Bridge On The River Kwai – Also a 1957 movie, Alec Guiness won an Oscar for his performance as a British army officer who goes slightly mad. With strong moral implications, this is a classic movie everyone should watch.

Saving Private Ryan – This movie by Steven Spielberg has great fight sequences, and is overall a wonderful action movie to watch.

Apocalypse Now – This 1979 movie has chaos, madness, and horror all rolled into it. A Captain is sent into the Cambodian Jungle to kill a Colonel adjudged insane, in the middle of the Vietnam war.

Platoon – A 1986 movie, extremely realistic in its portrayal of the horrors of war. A brilliant move film by Oliver Stone, with a great performance by Charlie Sheen.

All Quiet On The Western Front – Very powerful anti-war film, based on the novel by Erich Maria Remarque. It talks about some idealistic students who leave the comforts of their classroom to fight in the war.

The Kill Bill movies – Uma Thurman is absolutely stunning. Watch out for some great well-choreographed fight sequences. The martial arts are top-class, and the cinematic brilliance is… well… brilliant. The script too, is quite strong.

The Lord Of The Rings trilogy – Really dazzling in terms of cinematic achievement, with fantastic performances from each and every cast member. The eternal battle between good and evil, combined with a magical world. The special effects are really wonderful, the costumes are great, the creatures out-of-this-world, and of course, Viggo Mortensen is simply yummy.

The Star Wars trilogy – These movies by George Lucas are really great.

Many critics had made the mistake of writing off Brad Pitt as a “pretty boy”, who couldn’t act, but all that changed after The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. In fact, he was beginning to be recognized as an actor after movies like Seven and Fight Club. Today, he is known as a well-established actor, and not just because he’s shacking up with Angelina Jolie! Apart from his to-die-for body, and his killer-smile, he’s also a really great actor, and here, we list his top ten best movies.

Burn After Reading – Pitt played his character to perfection, his lines were good, overall a pretty funny performance, but that’s not to say it was bad.

Ocean’s Thirteen – A very quirky character. Plus, he looked hot. He was well able to hold his own against the likes of George Clooney and Matt Damon.

Snatch – A hard role to play, but he carried it off very well. Definitely a movie everyone should watch.

Babel – One of the best we’ve seen. Definitely a movie to get hold of.

Interview With A Vampire – Brad Pitt got into the character of a vampire extremely convincingly. His cold-blooded and calm narration was just the best.

Legends Of The Fall – Brad Pitt as Tristan is overburdened with guilt. His performance was deep and really enigmatic.

Fight Club – Definitely one of the best. Excellent performance by Pitt, he plays Norton’s alter ego to perfection, and actually – Norton and Pitt complement each other really well. Watch out for some great fighting, some great dialogue-delivery, and the ending will literally blow your mind.

Se7en – One of his best performances. The emotion shines through in the last scenes, and even in the rest of the movie, he does a great job of playing the impatient detective. His acting is quite good alongside Morgan Freeman.

Twelve Monkeys – Pitt is really great in the role of a mentally ill person. He injects humor into the role, and he steals the show from Bruce Willis, in many ways. In fact, his maniacal performance got him an Oscar nomination.

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button – Brad Pitt does a very convincing job of playing a man who is aging backwards, and trying to deal with his life. Although the movie itself is slightly slow, Pitt got an Oscar nod, and it was well deserved.
